At Gatehouse, we are looking for software developers who are passionate about designing, developing, and testing protocol software for satellite communication systems.

Background

Since 2001, Gatehouse Satcom has been a key player in the satellite communication (Satcom) industry, collaborating with renowned satellite operators like Viasat/Inmarsat to deliver exceptional software solutions. Our journey with the BGAN system over the past two decades has established us as a vital contributor to the industry, offering protocol software and systems for performance evaluation and testing.

About the job
We are experiencing increasing demand from new and existing customers and are therefore looking for software developers to join the BGAN team to develop new features. The team consists of experienced developers and software architects.

The new features will be implemented in both UMTS-based protocol stacks and network emulators, which are used for testing and validating satellite terminals. The new features are developed based on standards and are thoroughly and continuously tested in automated test systems before delivery to customers.

Since we operate in an international niche, there will be some travel involved for visits to customers and partners.

About you
You have an educational background as an engineer, computer scientist, or similar. We welcome applications from both those with a few years of experience and recent graduates.

You should have an interest in, and preferably experience with:
• Development of wireless communication protocols for 3G/4G/5G
• Data communication and network protocols including TCP/IP
• Object-oriented software development and C++
• Module/Unit and automated testing

It is an advantage if you have knowledge of:
• Version control with Git
• Continuous integration with Jenkins or Azure DevOps
• Using Jira for project management, work breakdown, and issue tracking
• Agile development and the use of SCRUM and Kanban
