- Software for Satellite Communication Systems
At GateHouse, we are seeking a Senior Program Manager who is passionate about leading the development of software for satellite communication systems.
GateHouse Satcom works closely with satellite operator Inmarsat and has been delivering software to manufacturers of BGAN satellite terminals since the launch of their BGAN system. This software includes protocol software for the terminal side, as well as various systems and applications for system testing and performance evaluation.
BGAN is a global satellite service that operates via 6 geostationary satellites, the latest 2 of which were put into operation in 2023, enhancing Inmarsat's network capacity and enabling new services. Recently, Inmarsat introduced a new service called Velaris, targeting satellite communication for drones. As a leading technology provider in the Inmarsat ecosystem, Gatehouse Satcom is a part of the Inmarsat Velaris Partner Network.
We are experiencing increasing demand and therefore, we are looking for a technically strong leader to oversee the department's portfolio of product development projects, customer projects, and support agreements.
About the Role:
Reporting to the CTO, you will have full responsibility for the development team, including supervising 10 developers and 1 project manager.
The team has grown organically in recent years, and this growth is expected to continue in the coming years. The development team consists of a good mix of highly experienced individuals and relatively recent graduates, and you will be responsible for ensuring that the team maintains the right skill set moving forward.
As the delivery lead, you will also ensure a balance in the delivery, prioritization, and coordination of product development, projects, and support according to product roadmaps, project plans, and support agreements.
Your daily tasks will be diverse, and you should be comfortable acting as both an internal and external point of contact. You will also be involved in sales preparation work, including drafting project descriptions and estimates.
As we operate in an international niche, occasional travel should be expected for customer and partner visits.
About You:
You have an educational background in engineering, computer science, or a related field, preferably with solid experience in telecommunications or satellite communication.
We expect your core competencies to include:
- Leadership of technically complex projects in the development of 3G/4G/5G telecommunications systems or wireless systems.
- Leadership of development teams and technical experts.
- Agile (SCRUM) and traditional project management.
- International collaboration and customer interaction.
Additionally, it's advantageous if you have experience in:
- Portfolio planning, prioritization, and resource allocation.
- Project financial management, including revenue recognition, procurement, and invoicing.
- Skill development and recruitment.
- Drafting project descriptions and estimates in the context of sales and business development.
As a person, you are proactive and comfortable leading a team. You exhibit strong commitment, create clarity, plan effectively, and execute efficiently.
Due to our international operations, it's essential that you are proficient in English, both written and spoken.
